Eagle's Wings

January 27, 2009

"Does the hawk fly b your wisdom, and spread its wings toward the south? Does the eagle mount up at your command, and make its nest on high?" -Job 39:26-27

" There are three things which are too wonderful for me, yes, four which I do not understand; The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, the way of man with virgin." -Proverbs 30:18-19

"Bless the Lord . . . Who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."-Psalm 103:1,5

"You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles wings and brought you to Myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine." -Exodus 19:4-5

"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."-Isaiah 40:31

"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might He increases strength."-Isaiah 40:28-29

Welcome 2009

January 21. 2009

New Years Day found us all up enjoying the beauty of winter in Kings Canyon National Park. We older ones rented some snowshoes and trudged down the hill for some exhilarating exploration and visiting. Meanwhile, Mom, Dad, and the Littles flew down the small sledding hill we found, and made a handsome snowman. When the snow became icy cold and the Littles lost their steam, we headed for the rustic visitor center for some creamy hot chocolate.

It was a special day, and a great way to begin the new year!

The Romantic Rationalist

While reading through John Piper's book, Don't Waste Your Life, I came across a quote about C.S. Lewis that wouldn't let me turn the page without writing it down.

"He (Lewis) demonstrated for me and convinced me that rigorous, precise, penetrating logic is not opposed to deep, soul-stirring feeling and vivid, lively -even playful- imagination. He was a 'romantic rationalist'. He combined things that almost everybody today assumes are mutually exclusive: rationalism and poetry, cool logic and warm feeling, disciplined prose and free imagination. In shattering these old sterotypes, he freed me to think hard and to write poetry, to argue for the resurrection and compose hymns to Christ, to smash an argument and hug a friend, to demand a definition and use a metaphor . . . He shook my dozing soul and threw the cold water of reality on my face, broke into my world with glory and horror."

Christmas Family Time

Holding babies,

Riding ponies,

Snoozin',
And doing projects (Some yummy peppermint covered marshmallows that Kendra brought).

Yep, they were delicious!

Some flashed a smile,
Others a silly face,
While they listened to the timeless tale of . . . . Angelina Ballerina! :-)

We introduced Graham to a favorite Parish pastime . . . taking walks.

When we started down the driveway, we met someone coming up in an old farm truck, among some suspicious, doughnut looking tire tracks. :-)

We ladies had a Pilates session (pictures not available ha!) and decorated beautiful organizational binders.

Our sweet little bundles just snoozing away. :-)
On Sunday, Emerson found herself surrounded with admirers.

Goofin' off.
Hugs and Kisses
